Hiya.
I’m J Jackson-Beckham (or “Dr. J,” as I am affectionately called in the craft beverage industry) and I passionately believes two things. First, that the craft beverage community is a uniquely wonderful space that anyone who is compelled to explore should have access to. Second, that the craft beverage community is uniquely positioned to be a vehicle for the positive transformation of communities and a lever in broader efforts to move the needle toward more inclusive, equitable, and just environments—at work, at play, and beyond.
I am a former professor of Communication Studies who dedicated my academic career to the study of American beer. Today, I help craft beverage organizations develop practices that drive success, build communities, and empower individuals as the Director of Social Impact for the Brewers Association. I’m also an author, speaker, vocal advocate for the craft beverage community, homebrewer, and Certified Cicerone. In 2020, I had the great honor of being named Imbibe Magazine’s Beer Person of the Year.
