Dr. J to Deliver Virtual Keynote at NYSCBC 2021

Dr. J Jackson-Beckham will be (virtually) visiting New York next week to deliver the keynote address for the 2021 New York State Craft Brewers Conference (NYSCBC) hosted by the New York State Brewers Association. NYSCBC, the premier gathering of the New York State craft brewing industry, will be a virtual conference this year, offering 40 information-packed sessions over 10 days. This speaking engagement kicks off a slate of 2021 state brewers guild visits Jackson-Beckham will make as the Equity and Inclusion Partner for the Brewers Association.

Jackson-Beckham’s keynote “Fans, Hands, and Brands: Strategies and Tactics for Being Inclusive and Building Diversity in Craft Beer” will kick off the conferene on Monday, February 22 at 9:30 am. In this talk, Dr. J inspires attendees to rethink how they approach diversity and inclusion in the craft brewing industry and opens the door for an honest and judgment-free conversation about the realities of authentically reaching populations that are underrepresented among those that produce, distribute, and sell alcoholic beverages.

Attendees will learn about three critical flaws in common approaches to organizational equity and inclusion work and learn about a framework for embarking on incusion, equity, and justice work that empowers brewery professionals to craft context-specific solutions to challenges that are tailored to their organization’s goals and capacity.

In addition to the keynote address, Jackson-Beckham will lead an educational session on Monday, March 1 at 5:30 pm ET. With COVID-19 case numbers plunging nationwide, craft brewers are optimistic that renewed sales and consumer visits are on the horizon. With better business, comes the need to hire new team members. In “We Need A Bigger Pie: Pipeline Development and Recruitment Strategies,” Dr. J provides actionable strategies for cultivating a bigger and more diverse employment pipeline and removing common types of bias from the hiring process.
